Background of the Ernie Pyle Library

The Ernie Pyle Library is the former home of famed war correspondent, Ernie Pyle. The City of Albuquerque acquired the house from the Pyle estate and in 1948 opened it as a branch library. You'll find Pyle memorabilia alongside the library's books and media.

Every detail, including the picket fence built by Pyle and the grave marker of his dog, Cheetah, has been carefully preserved. In 1997 the house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and designated a National Historic Landmark on September 20, 2006.
